Lion Sands - Private Game Reserve
![]()
Overview

The international award winning Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is ulta luxurious, yet simple and uncluttered. The lodge is about overriding exclusivity with complete privacy, where each suite is operated as a private villa. Neither word nor photograph can capture the sense of the pure beauty which is breathed in when opening the carved wooden doors leading into this private recluse – arguably the worlds finest suite.

Bedroom
The Lodge comprises six generously sized privately situated villas, each with a separate living room, heated swimming pool and an open plan en-suite bathroom with an enclosure for the outdoor shower – 6-star luxury in the middle of the bush. The colour scheme of ebony and ivory is interpreted in a modern style, while selected African accessories blend the old world with the new to create Afro-Euro chic. Breathtaking views of the Sabie River, which has flowing water all year around, can be viewed through the oversized windows of your villa or from your private viewing terrace. Baby elephants bathing in the river, zebra, gnu and the large Nile crocodile are the only neighbours you shall see.

Swimming Pool
The suites have their own private rim flow plunge pools with magnificent views over the Sabie River, whilst cooling down from the hot African sun, watch animals as they quench their thirst a mere stones throw away.

Wine Cellar
Our new premier wine cellar adds a new element to the guest experience.

Health Spa

The epitome of every stay at Ivory Lodge is the luxurious care one indulges in at our Lalamuka Health Spa. Our therapists offer most treatments in the privacy of ones suite.
Curio Shop
Ivory Lodge's Curio Shop has an abundant selection of Africa's rich traditions of art and craftsmanship.

Cuisine
The Lion Sands culinary experience is as diverse and interesting as the African bushveld itself. Janine Hobbs, our Executive Chef, together with her team use imagination, passion and natural flair to produce the most delicious and unique food. Whether it is buffets on the banks of the Sabie River under glittering starlit skies with lions roaring in the distance or fine dining under magical African Acacias, Janine and her Chefs produce the most amazing dishes which carry the exotic flair of local culture.
Magnificent sunsets can be enjoyed on game drive with a glass of chilled wine and a platter of South African cheeses, homemade samoosas and, of course, South Africa's traditional spicy beef biltong. All pastries and breads are freshly made daily in the kitchen by the pastry chefs and a freshly baked buttermilk and raison rusk while watching the sun rise puts the cherry on top of a most wonderful African culinary experience.
Guests at Ivory Lodge will encounter something truly original: a cuisine inspired by African flavours yet guided by the Western culinary tradition. Meals can be served out on the wooden decks under the shade of the Mahogany trees, in the intimate dining room where you can watch the staff prepare your meal in the kitchen or in our Traditional Shangaan Boma and last but not least in the privacy of your suite ... Safari Lunches and Bush Dinners can also be arranged on request.
