var i,x,a=document.MM_sr; for(i=0;a&&i Welcome to Fancourt - a resort in a country that has always held attraction for travellers. We would like you to enjoy Fancourt's easy-going atmosphere in which you may learn more about South Africa and it's multi-faceted culture. The heart of Fancourt is now the modern clubhouse, but the old Manor House will always hold its soul. When you visit the estate spend time in the stillness of the reading room, walk along the quiet passages. Imagine life as it was then, with Panama hats and buttonholes, with grand pianos, campher-wood kists, old silver and wild mushroom dinners. Imagine you're not alone... The building of Blanco House, in the style of a Cotswold Mansion, proceeded slowly from 1859. Henry, a wealthy man at the time, suffered a major financial setback in 1860 and died soon after. Blanco House was put up for auction in 1857 "a thatched-roof double-storey building with ten airy rooms, kitchen, pantry, outbuildings and servants' rooms . The Clubhouse with its wide, vaulted passageway and towering windows with stunning views of gardens and manicured fairways, is the hub of Fancourt activity. The Garden Route is renowned throughout the world for its immense natural beauty. Winding along the edge of the warm Indian Ocean, the Garden Route encompasses all of nature's wonders: from huge mountains ranges to small lakes and the country's largest remaining indigenous forest, the Tsitsikamma, which is home to a kaleidoscope of flora and fauna and a multitude of rare bird species. The Garden Route is also a malaria-free area. Water is ever-present in the Fancourt experience - whether at the Resort or the many lakes and beaches that surround us. Boating, fishing, sailing, canoeing, water skiing, swimming-beaches and surfing are all available just 20 minutes from Fancourt. The Koi people named the area around Fancourt 'Outeniqua' or 'land of honey'. The name was a poetic description of the lush, fertile and beautiful surroundings. Fancourt is surrounded by some of the last remaiming indiginous forests, which are home to a kaleidoscope of flora and fauna. A major attraction in the Garden Route area is the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe, an historic steam train which travels between George and the town of Knysna. In Knysna, ferry rides on the lagoon are also enormously enjoyable. The Garden Route is one of South Africa's most enchanting areas with sheer cliffs plunging into the Indian Ocean, glittering white beaches and the majestic Outeniqua Mountains. The Riding Centre is based on the eastern side of the George Riding Club grounds. It offers outrides in the forests surrounding the beautiful Garden Route Dam. Flowers and birds are abundant and you may have the luck to see the occassional bushback or loerie. The Riding Centre offers rides of different lengths and standards. Champagne breakfast rides are available and this could include non-riders or family members. The Garden Route is famed for its accessible bird watching. The presence of varied and contrasting habitats in the area ensure over 200 different species of birds, the most well-known being the Knysna Loerie and the Nerina Trogon. 10% cancellation fees are levied on reservations cancelled less than 45 days prior to date of arrival (60 days for groups of over 15 or more rooms). Henry Fancourt White built a country house in Blanco, at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains, in the early days of South Africa's expansion, in the days of ox-wagons, pioneers and impassable mountain ranges.
