Happy Hour at Tommy’s Sports Bar
One hour a day for a week … sound good?
Don’t expect to leave Club Chevelle in a hurry. When you step inside and begin exploring the labyrinth-like layout of this upmarket club, you’ll know straight away that you’ve entered another world – a world of elegant enchantment, where time is nothing and place is everything.
The décor at Cape Town’s Club Chevelle – situated in the up and coming Harrington Street in the east city – is a mystifying blend of both ancient and modern opulence, with each of the venue’s many areas incorporating a distinct style and aura, ranging from Middle Eastern to chic.
A no-compromise approach to quality has been taken, and no expense or thoughtful touch has been spared in making Club Chevelle a premium Cape Town club, very capably picking up from where the likes of Opium and Rhodes House left off.
Four full-service bars on three levels and an enticing variety of plush VIP areas with exclusive tables and private booths all contribute to the Chevelle experience.
Book the cosy 10-seater Crow’s Nest, a tucked-away table between the Courtyard and the suave Rose Room, or spend some time in the VIP mezzanine booths, which look over the action happening on the main dance floor.
Sound and lighting are world-class, which means the country’s best DJs – who are frequent guests at Club Chevelle – have absolutely no problem with getting the party started and luring partygoers to the dance floor. Correction – dance floors…
Two dance floors – one on the upper level in the Renaissance Bar, and particularly the Temple on the lower level – are fully equipped with comprehensive audiovisual facilities, making it oh-so-easy to turn up your mojo and get your groove on.
Music at Club Chevelle ranges from trip-hop and funk through to progressive house and uplifting commercial dance on the main dance floor.
Chevelle aims to keep their guests on their toes week after week, by treating them to surprise appearances by international acts, visual DJs, dancers and live musicians. After all, Chevelle is, as owner Garan Reck puts it, where you can expect whatever is “out of the ordinary”.
Club Chevelle has an exclusive Membership Club, but to join it you have to be chosen. Only those in the know make the cut, and although applications are available, you’d better make sure your references are up to scratch.
As a member you will enjoy many privileges including underground valet parking, access to the private rooms, private lockers, exclusive tables and a Chevelle ring to certify your membership.
Club Chevelle is not only perfect for locals looking for something special, it’s also definitely a must for the discerning traveler looking to get out and about for a true taste of Cape Town night life. This is where the club life lives.
With a maximum capacity of 1000 guests at any time, Chevelle is capable of catering for soirees of any magnitude, and is available for (but not restricted to): photo shoots, product launches, screenings, fashion shows, private parties, exhibitions, cocktail evenings, live gigs, etc.
Details about special events as well as VIP parties at Club Chevelle can be found in our guide to Events in Cape Town.
