Kink Kitchen Makes You Swallow
From sex shop to foodie playpen - this is one makeover you're going to love
Everyone knows Kink for its sensuality emporium, bar and disco. But Kink’s going to a whole new level. They’ve just opened Kink Kitchen, a cool little restaurant inside their pleasure complex. Open for lunch and dinner, Kink Kitchen delivers oral – and gastronomic – pleasure for patrons in their Secret Garden. One taste and we think you’ll come again and again.
Kink used to be an evening haunt with a dark and mysterious bar and boutique, but with the restaurant, you can enjoy their outdoor Secret Garden which has plenty of fresh air and sunlight. And if you stay till after dark, it transforms into an intimate and romantic courtyard with soft twinkly fairy lights.
And you thought this was going to be all dildos and crotchless panties...
Lick your lips, then your fingers
...and, well, you’d be close. With dishes with names like Wet, Wet, Wet, Choke the Chicken and Dunk the Skank, Kink knows how to whet your appetite. While the dishes might sound naughty and mischievous, the kitchen prides itself on creating fantastic food. Chef Calun Anderson has put together a stirring selection of dishes that has already made the Kitchen a hit amongst those with a food fetish.
Kink’s tapas menu will pleasure peckish diners who like finger food – like the mouth watering prawn skewers. Perfect for putting in your mouth, or that of your partner (or your third friend who sometimes likes to join in). After some culinary foreplay, Kink satisfies with ample-sized dishes that’ll leave with you an engorged ... stomach. We recommend going down on the Thai Carpaccio Salad – a zesty lunchtime meal for one, or a nice way to lube up the taste buds before your mains.
For something sweet and sticky, try one of their classic dessert options. For something purely indulgent, dig into their decadent chocolate brownie. Or if you like nuts, get a hold of their pecan pie. For after dinner drinks dive into the cocktail menu. The naughty themed drinks menu is filled with classic cocktails and also some tasty experimental styles. If you’re old school try a little Slap and Tickle - a Strawberry Daiquiri – or be a little more adventurous and just Whip it Out with a Long Island Ice Tea with a playful twist.
The Kink Kitchen is spread out around Kink – a few tables are on the sidewalk outside the store, inside the nightclub and out in the courtyard. The restaurant is designed to be flexible no matter what the weather. For cool summer dining, chill in the Secret Garden. With four tables the private cove is intimate and provides plenty of shade, thanks to a large blue sail tent. Clean white tables and chairs and comfy blue and white couches make it a peaceful place to cool off before a big night out.
Adult entertainment, with a twist of lemon
Kink seems to be maturing, a bit. They’re quietly shifting their focus away from the sexy boutique upstairs towards the bar and restaurant that promises longer-lasting satisfaction. Kink Kitchen is the first step in this move. It appears that Kink wants to offer its sensual take on life to an enlarged clientele. They hope to transform the nightspot into a place where the sophisticated and playful can move seamlessly from dining to dancing all in one space. From 1 February 2010, Kink will bid farewell to its collection of lacy lingerie, bullet vibrators, 9-inch dildos and edible undies (so stock up while supplies last!). In its place you’ll find a new bar, smoking lounge, and private dining room. The private area will be available for parties, promising an exclusive eating experience and a discreet atmosphere.
We’re in favour of Kink’s new found maturity. Because let’s face it, experience is sexy. And so is food. Kink understands that better than most. Get a taste yourself.
Kink is located at 3 Park Road Cape Town and is open daily for lunch and also from 17:00 to 02:00. Dinner is served from 19:00 – 00:00 every day. Tapas are served all day.
