Jamie Oliver, the world-renowned Naked Chef, has chosen the Cape Herb and Spice Company to manufacture some of the products in his new food range.
Oliver's new range, The Cupboard Stuff, is being sold in countries around the world, and will hit local Woolworths shelves at the end of November.
The Cape Herb and Spice Company will manufacture three of the products in the range. They are: a collection of sea salt, fennel seeds, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, coriander seeds and Szechuan pepper packaged in tins. Than there is a mortar and pestle set, which is made from granite.
The set will include sachets of chillies and spices. Last but not least: a sugar and vanilla combination in a glass grinder.
Irene Ivy-Schurrmans, managing director of the spice company, said they were delighted to be manufacturing the range.
"It's fantastic that South African companies are able to compete internationally and win contracts like this," Schurrmans said.
Not only is Oliver a celebrity chef, but he has used his good fortune to help disadvantaged youngsters to get into the catering world.
His latest book, Jamie's Kitchen, takes recipes from Fifteen, his non-profit East London restaurant. The restaurant raises money for Cheeky Chops, a charity that Oliver formed to help unemployed young people get into the catering world.
