A weekend of music, family, adventure - what could be better...
Houtstok Afrikaanse Musiek Fees is a music festival not far from Cape Town and the brain child of Houtstok Entertainment owner Louis Baartman who had the idea to recreate the original “Woodstock ’69” festival right here in the heart of the Swartland!
The Cape Town music festival will take place on Diep Rivier Farm in Malmesbury and promises to provide a weekend choc-full of activities for the whole family. Whether you’re a musiek loving tannie, a pop princess pre-teen or a beer and sports loving oke there will be something for you at Houtstok.
The line-up for the festival includes popular Afrikaans musicians like Fokofpolisiekar, Pieter Koen, Kurt Darren, Ken Mullen, Wicus van der Merwe and many more. Festival goers will be treated to three days of music starting from 14:00 on Friday 23 April 2010.
Apart from a fantastic musical line-up there will be lots of other activities to keep you busy. The festival orgnaisers have gone the extra mile to ensure that every member of the family will be entertained for every moment of the day throughout the festival.
For those who would like to get some shopping in, you can expect to find fete-style stalls selling everything from tasty snacks to arts and crafts. There will also be a kiddies creche, run by Parklands Educare, so parents can leave their tots to play while they enjoy the music.
Teenagers and thrill seekers can stay occupied at the festival’s adventure centre. A mechanical bull, paintball arena, bmx track, slingshot ride, and a 250m slip-and-slide will be provided free of charge for festival goers to enjoy. For those wanting to watch the rugby that weekend, there will also be TVs with DSTV Supersport channel in the beer tents.
For those not wanting to bring along their own camping facilities, accomodation will be offered by the Kreef Hotel, who will set up a tent hotel on site for the weekend.
Tents can be rented for the duration of the festival and include a spacious, lockable tent with a mattress, warm breakfasts daily, fireplace with braai-facilities, fully serviced hot showers, 24-hour security and much more. For more information, bookings and prices, visit kreefhotel.co.za.
The venue is strategically located next to the N7, 15km before Malmesbury and only about 40km from the northern suburbs, Table View area and less than 25km from Melkbosstrand.
Ticket prices range from R125 for an adult day pass to R300 for an adult full weekend Festival pass. Kids under 12 pay from R65 for a day pass to R125 for a full weekend Festival pass. Kids under 6 are free. VIP tent tickets are R325 for Friday, R500 for Saturday, R325 for Sunday, and R875 for all three days. Prices inlcude supper, a complimentary bottle of wine, and a Houtstok t-shirt.
Early birds will be rewarded with a 15% discount on the above prices. Tickets are available from computicket.
