Happy Hour at Tommy’s Sports Bar
One hour a day for a week … sound good?
More than just oral pleasure, we assure you!
Behind an unassuming storefront off Kloof Street in Cape Town, the Kink Bar & Boutique lures with a fantasy emporium of sensual pleasure. There you can indulge in your most primal desires – eating and (thinking about) sex.
Kink is one of the most ticklish places in the city. It’s like the boudoir of a Paris madam, subtly scented with incense and softly lit with lamps draped in lace and fringes. Plump couches in vibrant colours seduce you into their soft embrace, while the beat of the music insinuates itself into your hips and groin and entices you back onto the dance floor. So it’s a restaurant, bar and boutique – all sexy, all sumptuous, and all in one place.
The recent launch of Kitchen Kink promises to extend Kink’s other sensual offerings even deeper inside the body, all the way to the tummy. They serve tapas, salads, pastas, meats dishes like roasted rib-eye steak and marinated tuna loin, as well as sinful desserts. The names of their dishes are too fun, like dunk the skank (fondue), choke the chicken, asian persuasion (sushi), and so on. The cheekily named tapas are served from 5pm–2am, while other dinner options from 7pm-midnight. Finally, a place where the kitchen's open late! We loved the tempura-battered zucchini batons with minted yoghurt dipping sauce. Oh yeah, we dipped those sticks.
The dining space is small and intimate – but hey, size doesn’t always matter, right. It includes the newly opened Secret Garden out back, a romantic fairy-lit courtyard. A lovely setting. With a smoking option in the courtyard, and great music in the background, consider it "dinner to your favourite soundtrack."
Kink Boutique
After dinner, pop upstairs to the Kink boutique, which offers high-end lacy lingerie, lubricants, potions, unguents and naughty toys. Hell yeah! This, of course, is what gives Kink its racy reputation. But the natural way in which it’s incorporated into the space makes it a perfect after-dinner treat. It connects food and sex in a more explicit way than the traditional dinner date, but why bother with such social pretensions? Everyone knows food and sex is sensual. Why not keep that fact explicit. Kink does – and it works.
Kink BarAs the evening progresses, Kink blends seamlessly into a party mood, with DJs spinning cool tracks: sultry deep house, groove and funk to dirty pop and stripped down minimal beats. You’ll be jammin’ on the dance floor soon. For themes and specials at the bar, check out our Cape Town Events Section.
But according to Gia Pra-levis, the gorgeous hostess, “You never know what’s going to happen at Kink. We have masked balls, sweeping burlesque performances down our staircase, swing dance exhibitions, street tango parties, pole dancing workshops, tantric teas, corporate lunches, hen parties and crazy staff dress-up parties.”
From cocktails to dinner to shopping to dancing to sexy surprises – Kink has it all.
