It’s back and brighter than ever! That’s right, party people, the 2015 Cape Town We Are One Colour Festival (formerly the Holi One Colour Festival) will give you the chance to paint the Mother City a rainbow of colours at the CBD’s Grand Parade on Saturday, 14 March 2015.
This time around the jol will transition from a daytime colour to-do into a neon-coloured night event. This edition of the vibrant extravaganza promises to make your bootie bop with some of the Mother City’s freshest and hottest artists; the line-up is yet to be announced.
Inspired by the traditional Hindu Holi Festival, which celebrates the coming of the spring season, the riotous outdoor electronica party kicked off what has become a rite of passage for all Capetonians. Attracting thousands of powder-mad party-goers for a shindig like no other jol, the We Are One colour festival will welcome white-clad devotees and inductees alike to join in the fun.
The phosphorescent celebration – the series has been hosted from Berlin to Munich and from the USA to Singapore – encourages playfulness and calls on revellers to pummel each other with fistfuls of vibrantly coloured powder (it gives new meaning to the term ‘rainbow nation’) while house, techno, progressive and more reverberate in the background.
Hosted in one of the city’s most beautiful public spaces, the colour carnival invites festival-goers to unite in their love for music, dance and performance art, and to groove away as hourly bursts of brightly coloured clouds descend on the historic CBD square.
