Cape Town Fan Parks 2010 World Cup

The Grand Parade site Cape Town's largest fan parks during the 2010 World Cup

During the 2010 World Cup in South Africa fan parks will be set up in every host city. Fan parks are enclosed public viewing areas where live matches will be shown on big screens TVs with live entertainment and DJ’s in-between. Cape Town's Fan Park will be no different with the offical Fan Park on it's legendary Grand Parade, and public viewing areas outside Cape Town.

South Africa will attempt to replicate the party like atmosphere that was such a great success in Germany 2006.

Locations for the proposed Cape Town fan parks during the 2010 Soccer World Cup include Grand Parade in front of the City Hall, and PVA's [Public Viewing Area's] in the covered all-weather venue Bellville Velodrome, and the Athlone Stadium. Both Gansbaai and Plettenberg Bay are being considered as possible towns to have fan parks outside of Cape Town.

According to our latest information, the fan parks in and around Cape Town will be divided into three sectors.

These are 1. the official FIFA fan park at the Grand Parade and the fan mile, 2. the fan park at the Bellville Velodrome, a fan park at Phillipi Stadium and a fan park at Athlone Stadium and 3. the four smaller community viewing sites at Atlantis, Khayelitsha, Nomzamo and Maynardville.

The 2010 Fan mile in Cape Town will stretch from the station through Riebeeck Street & Somerset Road all the way to the Green Point Stadium.
