Blessing of the Harvest at Môreson Wine Estate

Have a grape-smashing good time at this Franschhoek farm’s annual harvest festival

Known for being rich with passion, love and magic (all of which are also essential ingredients in every bottle of wine), Môreson Wine Farm invites lovers of vino, food and adventure to get knee deep in barrels at its annual Blessing of the Harvest Festival on Saturday, 7 February 2015.

Whether you’re a returning visitor or a first-time one looking for a unique event that’s jam-packed with activities, yummy nosh and vino, this yearly grape day out is definitely one for the books.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2015 BLESSING OF THE HARVEST FESTIVAL AT MÔRESON WINE ESTATE

A GRAPE DAY OUT: The day kicks off at 10:30am with a welcome drink and some mingling. Following this, visitors dash off into this bubbly-producing estate’s rolling vineyards to pick a basket of grapes. Afterwards, attendees will use the oldest tools in winemaking history – their feet – to do the hard work of pressing the fruit. The farm adds a bit of fun competition to the mix and challenges participants to produce the most grape juice in this great stomp-off (points are awarded for style and technique).

WINE BOTTLE LABEL DESIGN CONTEST: Once you’ve gotten your feet back on terra firma, tap into those creative juices and take part in the Blessing of the Harvest label design competition. The lucky winner will have the honour of having their label design adorn the 2015 Blessing of the Harvest bottle of wine (available for collection in November 2015).

FEAST WITH BREAD & WINE: After working up a grand appetite, settle down at the on-site Bread & Wine Vineyard Restaurant for an unrivalled feast – the generous spread will feature innovative and summery dishes. Not to mention, an extensive selection of Môreson and Miss Molly wines and Méthode Cap Classiques will be available to quench revellers’ thirst; do note that drinks are for patrons’ own account.

A CHARITABLE OCCASION: To complete this indulgent day’s activities, the Môreson Wine Estate will host a silent auction that invites interested parties to open their wallets and bid on an exclusive double magnum (3-L) bottle of the farm’s finest vino. Proceeds of the auction will be donated to the South African Guide Dog Association.
